About the unit
This unit develops an understanding and awareness of simple switches in household appliances, understand the terms on and off, understand directional language such as forward, left, backward, turn, can count.

Where the unit fits in
Gaining confidence in mouse control, using left click, double click and click and drag and make selections.
• Have experience of using toys with an on and off switch.
• Are beginning to be aware of things that have switches in the home.
• Are developing an understanding of directional language
• Have some counting experiences

Expectations
At the end of this unit
most pupils will: Are aware of simple switches in simple household appliances. Understands the term of; on and off. Understands directional language such as; forward, backwards, left, right and turn. They can use a mouse to move different directions and click and drag items with confidence. Can count.
some pupils will not have made so much progress and will: Have experiences of switching on and off items. Begins to understand some directional language. Are beginning to make improvements with the mouse control. (Working towards Level 1)
some pupils will have progressed further and will: Read a set of instructions and usually predict the outcomes; produce an accurate set of instructions for others to follow. Are able to command the mouse with accuracy. (Level 1)
